From Orchard to Table

The planting design concept in this hotel reflects the connection between vegetation and the hotel’s key zones. Inspired by the stories and lifestyles of people from the suburbs to the heart of the city, the carefully selected plants not only create a beautiful ambiance but also enrich the narrative and vibrancy of each zone, giving them a distinct character.

Kalanan has a distinctive fort facing the river and the city / hotel walls almost encapsulates the resort in a time bubble. The key components are the fort and city wall that surrounds the hotel blocks and conference zone on one side of the hotel. The riverside restaurant, office block, canal and car park are located on the other side with the canal running almost in between. Bridges connect you from present time to the golden era of Siam.

Hotel Water

At our resort, water consumption is a key focus in maintaining sustainability while ensuring that the lush greenery of the grounds thrives. We have implemented an integrated water management system that not only supports plant health but also promotes water conservation through innovative and efficient practices.

When entering the hotel, you’ll encounter a large Ficus tree that offers shade and a lush, green ambiance, complemented by lower-level plants that enhance the overall greenery. To the left of the entrance, a raised garden bed showcases the traditional Thai gardening lifestyle inspired by the Taling Chan area. This garden is planted with edible fruits and crops such as betel nut, bananas, mangoes, coconuts, and rose apples. In the pond, there are water lilies and lotus flowers that add charm to the area, transforming it into a welcoming spot that fully conveys the beauty of nature and traditional ways of life.

This garden area is not just a lush green space that provides a pleasant atmosphere, but also reflects the relationship between people and nature, as well as the traditional Thai agricultural practices that still hold great value. As visitors walk through the garden, they experience this beautiful representation of the harmonious connection between people and the natural world.

From our Orchards to the table, we offer a unique experience for our guests. In our cooking class, participants pick fresh vegetables and fruits directly from the garden, which are then used in preparing delicious dishes. Additionally, flowers from our garden are incorporated into our flower arrangement workshops, offering guests a hands-on opportunity to connect with nature in a creative and meaningful way.

The entrance to the hotel is not just a pathway, but a gateway that opens into an experience connecting the past to the present, with beautiful nature and stories that fill the space.

As one enters the resort, a red brick wall will transport you to the ruins of temples of Ayutthaya. This wall pays homage to the Ayutthaya era in Thai history.

The next landscaping dedication is to Taling Chan, representing the Thonburi era. During this time, the Thai people commute and live by canals. Taling Chan has a laid-back vibe, with lush greens and melodious notes of nature’s best. This Orchard Garden in our hotel recreates this special moment in time. The body of water to mirror the many canals flowing into the River of Kings is postcard perfect. This Orchard Garden represents the Thonburi Kingdom established in 1767.

Finally, we cross the canal to enter the ancient capital of Siam. This marks the Rattanakosin era when the capital of Siam moved in 1782 from Thonburi to Rattanakosin, located in present day Bangkok’s Old Town.

Hotel Water

At our resort, water consumption is a key focus in maintaining sustainability while ensuring that the lush greenery of the grounds thrives. We have implemented an integrated water management system that not only supports plant health but also promotes water conservation through innovative and efficient practices.

The trees and plants are supported by an efficient irrigation system designed to ensure optimal plant health while minimizing water waste. The main irrigation method is a sprinkler system installed throughout the site, providing consistent and even coverage. Water used for irrigation is sourced from our on-site reservoir, located in the orchard, which is an old fish pond that retains rainwater and runoff. Additionally, we draw water from the adjacent river for irrigation purposes, ensuring a reliable supply that aligns with the natural environment.

This integrated system helps reduce overall water consumption on the hotel grounds while promoting water conservation. The repurposing of the fish pond into a water storage tank further supports sustainability efforts and ensures a consistent water supply for the orchard area.
